Dec. 7, 2015—West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) and Crane Industry Services, LLC (CIS) held a program showcase and open house on Dec. 2, 2015 to celebrate their partnership through the College’s Economic Development Division.

The ceremony took place at the Centered on Safety™ Training Center on the Murphy Campus in Waco, Ga., which showcased hands-on, job specific training for the crane and rigging industry. Read more

NCCER Releases Craft Training Resources for Vets

ALACHUA, Fla. — As part of their commitment to help veterans and returning military make a smooth transition into rewarding construction careers, NCCER and its Build Your Future (BYF) initiative have developed the Hard Hat Heroes campaign to assist in recruiting, training and hiring veterans. Post Assembly Crane Inspections

Post-assembly crane inspections happen on jobs across the country every day, but, it’s not every day that the cranes include enormous, limited edition machines. Crane Industry Services was called on by Maxim Crane Works in 2015 to deliver a third-party, post-assembly crane inspection of their Manitowoc 31000, of which there are only two in the world, and by Derr & Isbell Construction for two Liebherr LR 11000s configured with the PowerBoom (P-Boom).

Working on the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., all three cranes are making history. This is the first time the 31000 and the 11000s with the P-Boom configuration have worked on a project in North America. The stadium, which will be the home of the NFL Atlanta Falcons beginning in 2017, features a retractable roof design that opens and closes like the lens of a camera. Read more

OSHA releases guide to training requirements

More than 100 OSHA regulations contain requirements for training. A new comprehensive guide called “Training Requirements in OSHA Standards,” organizes all of those requirements into five categories: General Industry, Maritime, Construction, Agriculture, and Federal Employee Programs.

OSHA makes a direct connection between training and accident and illness prevention, saying in part: “Training and education are elements of a strong injury and illness prevention program that can help employers find and fix workplace hazards before workers get hurt.” Read more…

Industry and Education Partner to deliver Interactive Skills Courses

October 9, 2015—West Georgia Technical College and Crane Industry Services, LLC (CIS) today announced a partnership through the College’s Economic Development Division to provide a new series of Skills Development Training Courses essential to construction, utilities, power generation, manufacturing, mining and refining.

Custom courses and open enrollment options are available at the new Centered on Safety Training Center™ on the WGTC Murphy Campus in Waco, Ga. The partnership between CIS, which provides crane and rigging training nationally and internationally, and WGTC is the result of an initiative to support workforce development needs. Read more

CIS Joins SCOAR

Crane Industry Services (CIS) has been approved as an Associate Member of the Southeastern Construction Owners & Associates Roundtable. Membership must be approved by the SCOAR Board of Directors. SCOAR is an interactive learning alliance of construction professionals, not a trade association. Members must either be facility owners or provide engineering, construction, or maintenance services for purposes of improving business performance.
